22When the time of their purification according to the Law of Moses had been completed, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord 23(as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord”[b]), 24and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: “a pair of doves or two young pigeons.”[c]

I don’t remember reading about this part in Matthew or Mark.  Maybe I’m losing my mind but this is interesting information…I am also finding it fairly interesting to read Luke after reading Matthew and Mark because Luke is very matter a fact about everything.  It’s a different style of writing altogether!!!

Joshua 10

Deuteronomy 28

38 You will sow much seed in the field but you will harvest little, because locusts will devour it. 39 You will plant vineyards and cultivate them but you will not drink the wine or gather the grapes, because worms will eat them. 40 You will have olive trees throughout your country but you will not use the oil, because the olives will drop off. 41 You will have sons and daughters but you will not keep them, because they will go into captivity. 42 Swarms of locusts will take over all your trees and the crops of your land.

43 The alien who lives among you will rise above you higher and higher, but you will sink lower and lower. 44 He will lend to you, but you will not lend to him. He will be the head, but you will be the tail.

This seems like a part of what is happening in the UNITED states now?

After she has lived in your house and mourned her father and mother for a full month, then you may go to her and be her husband and she shall be your wife. 14 If you are not pleased with her, let her go wherever she wishes. You must not sell her or treat her as a slave, since you have dishonored her.

The part where he says for the many to let the chick go if he doesn’t like her after he has slept with her, interesting…???

20If the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would survive. But for the sake of the elect, whom he has chosen, he has shortened them.

I don’t mean judgment day is earlier for us…I mean we are not on the earth biologically until we are 400 years old. God shortened our days…I think that is what I perceive this passage to mean.

My goals for my life are as follows: To have the desire to go home now and be unafraid of leaving earth. To be a Proverbs 31 woman. This passage was good for me to read…God ALLOWED us to leave earth earlier than he did people in Moses/Adams day. He allowed it to remove suffering for His children…At least, that is what I get from this passage.

Deuteronomy 18

9 When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. 10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in [c] the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you. 13 You must be blameless before the LORD your God.

Deuteronomy 15

4 However, there should be no poor among you, for in the land the LORD your God is giving you to possess as your inheritance, he will richly bless you, 5 if only you fully obey the LORD your God and are careful to follow all these commands I am giving you today. 6 For the LORD your God will bless you as he has promised, and you will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. You will rule over many nations but none will rule over you.

7 If there is a poor man among your brothers in any of the towns of the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not be hardhearted or tightfisted toward your poor brother. 8 Rather be openhanded and freely lend him whatever he needs.

WOW! This describes the US…currently…we need to take heed and take care instead of being hateful to each other and everyone else outside of this country…WOW!

Deuteronomy 9

21 Also I took that sinful thing of yours, the calf you had made, and burned it in the fire. Then I crushed it and ground it to powder as fine as dust and threw the dust into a stream that flowed down the mountain.

What does this mean in reference to reading about other doctrines or other ‘religions’?
